Reduce risk factors, foster young people, prevent family violence and improve awareness about education and employment.
Increase unity, provide life skills, educate parents about the grassroots to parenting to protect and promote a stronger family environment.
Frederick Douglass said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
African Canadian Children Youth and Family Services formally known as Ease the Stress Children and Youth Services was established in 2007 as a unique way to create and enhance opportunities and experiences for young people and families. The aim was to promote and foster a positive relationship between young people and their peers in addition to strengthening, encouraging, and promoting self-respect and self-enrichment. We have been very successful in supporting young individuals in the community as they transitioned from adolescents to adults.
Our members work from a non-violent, anti-racism framework which is extremely appreciated by the people we serve. We continue to promote diversity and teach life skills to overcome all barriers. It is our belief that all communities benefit from the development of young people, and we feel that sports are a great tool for many of them to learn life's valuable lesson
Our organization fosters engagement by building trust with young people and families. We’ve implemented specific plans and goals, and continue to be supportive and involved throughout different stages and transitions. We target these individuals through our “For Coloured Girls” and “Man-up” Programs. Our Mentoring Program uses our “Big Brothers and Sisters,” and our “Single Fathers Against Violence” Initiatives to educate our adolescents. Our "Social and Sports" Programs raise awareness of support and services and promote all our projects and proposals.
Black people's lives, votes, mental health, and freedom from abuse, racism, discrimination and injustice MATTERS.
“There is no vaccine for racism.” —Kamala Harris
What is the Poet implying when she says "You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I'll rise." She is saying that even though she's facing discrimination she will still overcome it
African-Canadian Children, Youth & Family Services focuses on black children, youth, and their families. We provide guidance, counselling, and other support services to black families. We promote and protect black children where necessary. We develop capacity-building programs with a designated network of African-Canadian Organizations (ACO) to provide services on mental health, cultural diversity, mentoring, employment, education, teen pregnancy, drugs, learning disabilities, gaming and technology, abuse, and black LGBTQQIP2SAA.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of African-Canadians in our communities. Your contribution today helps us make the difference.
