The ability to support each other when called upon it's truly remarkable. Family needs to invest their time in each other and support beyond measures
For Coloured Girls Program assists young black females as they are transitioning throughout life. This program is specifically delivered by our “Big Sisters” and “For-Girls-by-Girls” Initiatives and focuses on youthfulness, mental health, teen pregnancy, home, school, and stress. We also assist with career opportunities, focusing on jobs they have no knowledge about. This program will assist with the development and fostering of young girls’ independence, while providing strategies to cope with any situation they are facing. This program recognizes that half of the problems black girls’ faces are traced to saying "YES" too quickly and not saying "NO" soon enough.
This is fun and exciting, and assists young people through conversation and interactions with past clients, professional (including athletes), and motivational speakers. We also have the “Man-up” Program for young boys hosted by our “Big Brothers” and “Single Fathers Against Violence,” which addresses issues of suspension and expulsion from schools
For Blacks by Blacks is a culturally relevant program that specifically assists the black community by utilizing individuals that look like them. This program promotes positive interaction and counselling to assist young people and families, and promotes different community initiatives. The sharing of stories to the young people of tomorrow will promote a sense of urgency as they try to set goals for themselves. Focusing on career opportunities that are seldom mentioned in the homes, and opening their eyes to the reality and possibilities they were never taught.
