African Canadian Children Youth and Family Services is governed by a community of Board of Directors made up of 12 members and 7 advisory members which represent 16 Caribbean countries, and 3 African countries. The Board of Directors are responsible for:
The vision is to create a system that enables and empowers African-Canadian children, youth, and families to live safe, stable, healthy, and productive lives.
To engage and support black families in various communities, by implementing culturally relevant initiatives to assist with the care and development of young people in homes and schools
The mission is to empower and enhance the overall well-being of African-Canadian children, youth, and families and by elevating the roles, resources, services, and value of African-Canadian agencies and organizations, and by extending the communities they serve.
Increase awareness by promoting opportunities for young people and families, and utilizing many strategies to assist them in all stages of their lives.
The board reviews and implement strategies needed to assist black families in the community.
The board is responsible to share information with the council and lead agency as well as members in the community.
Our board members are from the community focusing on inclusion, equality, racism, mental health and transparency.
The members from the community are involved and informed in all decision-making processes.
The members of the board target the population and community it serves and approaches with a positive and meaningful outcome.
